This blog began several years ago when I decided I wanted to learn how to grow things. After about the first year, I lost my battle with the temptation to include other aspects of my life, so now it's a little bit of everything I do--family, crafty stuff, dogs, plants, cooking, photography, and whatever else happens to tickle my fancy on any given day. Frequently mentioned characters are my Sweet Husband and two dogs Moe (aka "the Wee Welshman", "MoeMoeHead", and "Why you little &%*$!") and Porterhouse ("Port", "Porter", "PorterBella", "Bella", and "Bellatrix" when she's naughty!).
Sweet Husband and I recently bought a house. It's about a hundred years old, has no straight lines, and lots of hostas. I've jokingly named it the Hacienda del Hosta, and--despite the fact that it's been a lot of work--I'm really loving the process of making it our own.
As a result of the move, gardening this year has been a little haphazard, but I am growing some of my own veggies still. And, now that I have all the space I could ask for, next year the garden will be on! (And for you fellow gardeners who care about such things, I'm in Zone 5b.)
Other important bits?
In my grown-up life I'm a public defender. That means I get to help people a lot of other people would rather pretend just don't exist. Which I love doing. That colors my viewpoint on a lot of things, as does the fact that I'm a fairly liberal girl. (I also think it's important to have my biases out in the open.)
My goals in life include learning all the words to the song "La Vie Boheme" from "Rent", and getting a pair of chickens to make me nice, fresh eggs each day. I work on the first one anytime I'm alone in my car. The second is officially slated for next spring!
Last but not least, I love comments! Good ones, bad ones, whatever--if you're reading this, drop me a line and say "Hey".
