Wednesday Poll: Join My Etsy Insanity

It could be my rabid crafty kick.  It could be that it's nasty outside.  It could be that it's been a slow week.

Whatever the cause, I have spent the past 48 hours freaking obsessed with etsy.

For the uninitiated, etsy is a website where people can buy and sell handmade items.  Everything must largely be the work of the person selling it, and no mass produced items are allowed.  The result is a very artsy, fun, and neat little marketplace.

My very favorite local artist, Rachael Sudlow, has a little shop.  I'm getting some great ideas for felted bead necklaces here and here.  This little heart would be the most perfect thing ever for Valentine's Day.  And I just bought the pendant pictured above from Littleput Books.  (Her little recycled scrabble tiles are so pretty, it took me almost an hour to pick the one I wanted.)

I'm usually so against promoting the accumulation of stuff--'cause don't we all have enough?--but today I'm making an exception.  For this week's poll:

Did a search on 'flying pig' because I have a 'thing' for cool little artsy bits done for little piggies and I'm always looking for unique well done ones. There were tons to choose from (tons when you are looking for flying pig motif is relative = 109 or so!). Anyhow, saw plenty I liked, but think I'm partial to the scarf since I'm also on a cool cold weather gear kick to find quirky hats and scarves. AND how sweet that she listened to her daughter who said the scarf needed some pink (I agree!) and decided to put the flying pig on there ;o)

I like the piggy scarf a lot. I haven't really explored the textile stuff a lot, but I think I might start buying bags from etsy. I like the idea of having one that's unique. (Like this one! http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=9331712 )

I also love those earrings--but I pretty much love everything in the Sudlow shop! I still really want to buy one of her cowscapes (See: http://rachaelsudlow.com/cows.htm ), but just haven't quite had the budget...yet. ;)

I don't think I'd ever actually buy it--I don't know how I feel about wearing jewelry made of laminated paper--but I just really like her little people.

Oh man, I so did not need to be directed towards the bags!!! I already have a small problem when it comes to them! Way cute, will be checking those out next!

I think if the laminated paper people were made out of a slightly different media it would help. They are cute, but I'm with you about being on the fence. Something I'd hang, not necessarily wear.

Sudlow store was way cool, will be checking that out some more. Loved the cowscapes when you turned us on to those, just didn't realize she'd expanded!
