We burnt out on Hamburger Helper beef stroganoff, oh, sometime in the first 6 months or so we lived together. But this stuff is a completely different animal (metaphorically, not literally), consider this the grown-up version.
We used a variation on this recipe. We cooked the beef, onions and mushrooms in a crock-pot with a little red wine (it took about 4 hours) instead of browning the meat on the stove; we also completely omitted the chicken stock. Oh, and we halved the recipe and still had plenty leftover.
